Here’s what I’ve got so far:
Aubameyang v Fernandes v Salah
Here’s some key performance stats. They are overall on a season basis home and away stats as the difference is somewhat theoretical at the moment.
In 19/20 Arsenal were 7th in Goals scored, 9th in xG and 11th in Shots per game
In 19/20 Man Utd were 5th in Goals scored, 4th in xG and 5th in Shots per game
In 19/20 Liverpool were 2nd in Goals scored, 3rd in xG and 2nd in Shots per game
In 19/20 West Ham were ranked 16th in goals conceded 18th in xGA and 12th in Shots per game against
In 19/20 C Palace were ranked 10th in goals conceded 13th in xGA and 13th in Shots per game against
In 19/20 Chelsea were ranked 11th in goals conceded 5th in xGA and 2nd in Shots per game against (otherwise known as the Kepa effect)
I’d expect all of Aubameyang, Salah and Fernandes to start
Aubameyang clearly leads the bookies odds, the polls and the Contributor picks so he’s the most popular player by some distance with FPL managers and the bookies.
Stats wise his underlying stats are pretty ordinary for the price but he massively overperformed them with an exceptional finishing year.
Fernandes 8 goals last season consisted of 4 penalties and if you stripped them out plus his overperformance you’d have a set of underlying stats that are similar to Jarrod Bowen or Jack Grealish’s
Salah has the best stats by some distance but faces a very good defence. That’s until the ball gets to or should I say past the GK. Let me remind you that for 30% of the shots on target last season he didn’t even move for.
The FFGeek choice
You may have seen my early FFGeek team thoughts article where I touched on this and other things
I don’t have Fernandes anyway to cause any confusion so I’m going with the polls of Aubameyang which I would have anyway
